VOLUNTEERING AT DSCC
Find Your Place And Share Your Passion With Seniors
EMERGENCY VOLUNTEERING NEED
We need volunteers to help deliver meals to our seniors. We have two meal-related volunteering opportunities:
SHELF STABLE MEAL DELIVERY
Starting on MONDAY, MARCH 30 through to FRIDAY APRIL 3, volunteers are needed to pick up ‘shelf stable’ meal boxes and deliver them to seniors. Volunteers would pick up meal boxes at 1990 Springer Drive Lombard, IL 60148 between 11:00am to 1:00pm and then deliver them to seniors.
FROZEN MEAL DELIVERY
On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, volunteers are needed to pick up meals at 10am at 1990 Springer Drive Lombard, IL 60148 and immediately deliver them to seniors.
Please call 630-746-0909 if you can help deliver meals to our seniors during this time.
GET INVOLVED. MAKE A DIFFERENCE
DSCC is a volunteer-driven organization. And we wouldn’t have it any other way! Much of our day-to-day contact with our seniors is done by volunteers including delivering meals, performing Well-Being Checks and Friendly Visits. Did you know that many times, the volunteer who brings them their meal is the only person they will see that day?
What if that person was you?
How Can I Volunteer?
There are many ways to get involved with DSCC where you can share your time, talents and gifts. There are two main types of DSCC volunteers – one of which might be right for you.
A Program Volunteer is a volunteer who is plugged into an existing DSCC service or program. Some places where a Program Volunteer can help include:
- Delivering Meals
- Well-Being Checks
- Friendly Visits
- Community Dining
- Yard Clean-Ups
- Home Repairs
- Intergenerational Activities
- Pet Care and Food Assistance
Volunteering as a Program Volunteer allows you to interact directly with the seniors, meet an immediate need and to make that important connection with them.
A Networking Volunteer is a very important role for DSCC. The needs of our seniors are often out of sight. We need people like you to help share the message about the needs of our seniors and to help raise awareness and support for the DSCC programs.
As a Networking Volunteer, you might:
- Share our emails with others
- Attend DSCC fundraisers and invite others
- Coordinate a matching funds program with your company or organization
- Host a local event to raise funds and awareness for DSCC
- Share our content on Social Media
- Talk about DSCC to people who are interested in learning more or getting involved
Become A Volunteer
Whether you have special skills, have an infectious smile or just like to talk to others, you are needed by our seniors and by DSCC. If you have some time to offer our seniors, please let us know. We’ll help connect you to a place where you can make a difference to our seniors.
“DSCC is more than a community partner. With their help we keep seniors happy and healthy. DSCC is our other half. Without DSCC we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. We work as a team.”
