These volunteers also went the extra mile recently in service to senior citizens:
In Glen Ellyn. . .
Filling in to take extra routes were Jim Albrecht, Dave Albert, Bill LaFontaine, Sue Carroll, Teavia Williams, Sheryl Flugel, Marge and Gordon Maxson.
From Bloomingdale. . .
Site Manager Sharon Zepeda extends a special Thank You to all the volunteers who have agreed to help at the new Glendale Heights Senior Center site.
Stacey Daniel attempted to deliver a meal but there was no response at the home. The site manager was contacted, neighbors were contacted and it was discovered the client had been asleep and could not hear the doorbell. Stacey gladly made a return visit with the meal.
In Lisle. . .
Unexpected driver cancellations would have created difficulties if it had not been for Sue Stealey, who stepped forward to cover extra routes.
At Lombard York. . .
Lois Orlow not only worked an extra day in the kitchen, but she drove routes on three days as well, taking care of familiar clients and picking up new clients formerly served from Elmhurst.
Josephine and Floyd Carter repeatedly go the extra mile, frequently substituting when necessary. On a recent delivery they encountered a “no answer” at one home. After reporting this to the site manager, they followed up with several calls on their own. They were eventually successful in locating the client and delivering the meal.
In Bensenville . .
Victor Giordano is a new volunteer doing an extraordinary job, says site manager Rene Alvarez. Victor drives any route requested, works extra days when needed and provides excellent feedback concerning the seniors on his routes.
